But the Jewish Maccabees put down the uprising and this final victory over Greek culture taking root, as opposed to the Judaic is cellebrated to this day as Hanukka. With the Jewish Maccabee victory, it was the first time in actual history, Jews ever held complete control over the area known as Palestine. And the Maccabees ruled as Jews always do once they have control with an iron fist. They slaughtered any recalcitrant Jews or even Jews who questioned in any way their decisions.
